My Best Tips For Making No-Knead Jalapeno-Cheddar Bread without Douch Oven:
- Use a rack to cool the bread so that air can circulate and prevent soggy bread.
- Dust the dough lightly with flour before baking; it gives a lovely artisan bakery look! And also help your bread not stick to the pan.
- You can use whole wheat flour instead of all-purpose flour but may result in a denser loaf.
- Canned or jarred jalapenos may be used instead of fresh.
- Slicing into this bread too early will cause the inside of the bread to be under-cooked and soggy, so let it cool completely before slicing.
- Active dry yeast may be used instead of instant, but when you add the yeast to the warm water, you want to stir to dissolve it and let it sit for 5-10 minutes before adding the flour mixture.
- Use a serrated knife to slice the bread easily.

Cookware for this Recipe
Ingredients:
Ingredients:
- All-Purpose Flour 3 Cups
- Salt 1 Tsp
- Shredded Cheddar Cheese 1 Cup
- Jalapeno 1 Large, diced
- Instant Yeast 2 Tsp
- Water 1 ½ Cups
Toppings:
- Cheddar Cheese 3-4 Tbsp
- Jalapeno 8-10 round slices, (or more, to taste)
Instructions:
To Make the dough:
- In a mixing bowl, add all-purpose flour, salt, cheddar cheese, and diced jalapenos and mix well and keep aside.
- In the other mixing bowl, add warm water(lukewarm) and yeast(water should be warm, but not hot).
- Now, add yeast and water mixture to the flour mixture, using a spatula mix it all together until everything comes together and makes a dough.
- Using a spatula, fold the dough from the outside of the bowl towards the center, do it for 8-10 times, and form a shaggy, sticky dough.
To Proof the dough in the Instant Pot:
- Transfer the dough to the Instant Pot and cover the pot with the glass lid or with any plate that fits the pot(even you can use the instant pot's main lid too).
- Proof the dough using the yogurt function of the Instant Pot.
- Set the time for 1 hour.
- The dough is ready when its surface dotted with bubbles, and it becomes doubled in size.
To Shape the Dough:
- Sprinkle the flour on the work surface, transfer the dough to it, and fold it; it will be soft.
- Now, use the flour to keep the dough from sticking, gently shape the dough into a ball(don't overwork the dough).
- Fold the corners of the dough in towards the center, about 6-8 times, until a rough ball formed.
- Now, transfer the dough onto the parchment paper and dust some flour.
- Cover the dough ball with the cotton towel and let rise for about 15-20 minutes or until it doubled in size.
- When it's ready, the dough will be doubled in size.
To Bake the Bread:
- Put a copper pan covered with the lid or heavy-duty aluminum foil (with the cover) and preheat the pan for 20-30 minutes. (I have used a copper pan that can handle 450 F temperature, but you may use Dutch oven if you have or use cast iron, enamel, Pyrex, ceramic any of these that can handle high temperature of the oven)
- Dust the dough with flour and using a sharp knife score the dough 5-6 times.
- Then sprinkle some cheddar cheese and add sliced jalapenos(Creating a round shape will help the loaf bake evenly and dusting the top with flour will create bakery-style appearance).
- When the dough is ready, carefully remove the pot from the oven and transfer the dough into the pan(or into the Dutch oven if you are using).
- Cover the pan with the lid / heavy-duty aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes, then remove the aluminum foil/lid and bake for another 15-20 minutes to crisp the top, until the bread browned.
- Remove the bread from the pan and parchment paper and let the bread cool on a wire rack for at least 30-60 minutes before slicing.
- (The texture is best when the bread is completely cooled before slicing, Letting the loaf cool completely before slicing ensures the perfect fluffy texture when you slice into it).
