What is Gatari Amavsya?
Gatari Amavasya which falls on a moonless night before Shravan begins. Gatari Amavasya is the last day of the month of Ashadha and is on July 20th this year. It is the last day of celebration before the month of Shravan begins. Many Maharashtrians who follow Shravan, refrain from eating non-vegetarian food during this period. As Maharashtrians await the start of the Shravan month, they also look forward to celebrating Gatari Amavasya a day before it. After eating and drinking to their heart’s desire the whole day and night, people get ready to eat simple food for Shravan.

This Chicken Thali Contains:
Homestyle Chicken Fry/Curry
A spicy, tangy homestyle chicken curry made with a mix of different Indian spices and smothered the goodness of masala gravy. Chicken fry is Dr.K’s (my husband) all-time favorite chicken recipe and pretty regular at my home. He just loves the spiciness, the tang, and the aroma of the freshly-made masala paste. Use red chili as per your tolerance. I made it spicy, as my family likes it spicy.
