Makhana is also known as lotus seeds, fox nuts, Gorgon nut, euryle detox. In Indian households that are commonly consumed during fasts and even use it as an ingredient to prepare sweet and savory dishes in Indian cuisines. Makhana can be consumed raw or cooked form depending on the individuals' taste. They are a good source of protein, manganese, potassium, magnesium, and phosphorus.
Preparation and Cooking Time: 20 Minutes.

Ingredients:
- Makhana 1 Cup
- Milk 3 Cups
- Brown sugar 3 Tbsp
- Desiccated Coconut 2 Tbsp
- Raisins 2 Tsp
- Cardamom powder 1 Tsp
- Ghee 2 Tsp
- Saffron few strands + 2 tbsp warm milk
Instructions:
- Dry roast coconut for 1-2 minutes on medium to low flame.
- Heat ghee in a pan and roast raisins, makhana for 2-3 minutes and keep it aside.
- Now, coarsely grind roasted makhana(i have grinded ½ cup only).
- Now, boil milk in a pan and add sugar, roasted desiccated coconut, raisins, cardamom powder, and saffron milk and stir well.
- Now, add roasted and grinded makhana to the milk and mix well and cook for 4-5 Minutes.
- Tadaa, yummylicious makhana kheer is ready to serve. Enjoy!!!
