How to Make Sweet Potato Bites(Ratalyache God Kap)

Hello Foodies,

       Sweet potato bites are certainly the perfect blend of sweetness and are a favorite at our fasting(Navratri) and Thanksgiving menu. This year we are serving it as an appetizer/side dish! These bites will go fast so double up! 

I made these today for lunch, and didn't have time to bake sweet potatoes so I used Instant Pot to cook the sweet potatoes and it’s ready in less than 15 minutes!! They were a big hit and super easy to make and will be a permanent addition.

       The recipe has simple 3 ingredients, sweet potato, sugar, and butter/ghee. In addition to being super yummy and addictive, these easy sweet potato bites are allergy-friendly, making it a good choice for parties where guests have different dietary restrictions. They’re gluten-free, egg-free, and Paleo too.

Preparation Time: 5 Minutes; Cooking Time: 2 Minutes.
Each Serving of Sweet Potato Bites Contains 118 Calories.     


  • Sweet Potato 1
  • Brown Sugar/Jaggery 1 Tbsp
  • Butter/Ghee 1 Tbsp
  • Almonds for garnishing(Optional)


  • Wash and pat dry sweet potato.
  • Slice sweet potato into equal parts(¼ inch slice).
  • Place the sliced sweet potatoes into the pan and sprinkle some sugar and top with butter.
  • Pour 2 cups of water into the insert of the Instant Pot.
  • Place the trivet and the sweet potato pan.
  • Close the lid of the instant pot and place the vent on the sealing position.
  • Pressure cook on Manual Mode(Hi) for 2 minutes.
  • Natural Pressure Release for 10 minutes and then release the remaining pressure manually.
  • Take the pan out and let it cool for a few minutes.
  • Garnish with sliced almonds and sweet potato bites are ready to serve.
  • Serve sweet potato bites as a side dish with Sabudana Khichdi / Sabudana Vada / Sabudana Waffles. Enjoy!!!
