How to Make Instant Pot Kutchi Dabeli

         Did you ever feel that eating certain foods can actually elicit feelings of nostalgia? I do certain foods that make me nostalgic. That’s right, eating certain foods can send you on a one way trip to the memory lane faster. Tasting food can spark those memories in your mind, and while making this Kutchi Dabeli, it took me to my college days. 

I still remember those days, my bestie and I use to eat Kutchi Dabeli once in a week. Always from the same vender, and I still remember the taste of delicious Dabeli. Everything was perfect and always the same taste. That time never thought that one day I would try to replicate this recipe in my kitchen. 


These days I make everything from scratch, and the satisfaction can’t be put in the words. And peeps here we go made this scrumptious and instant Dabeli using Homemade Dabeli Masala. On top of that, I have prepared it in the Instant Pot, and oh my goodness! I felt like this is the easiest and tastiest dabeli that I have ever prepared. It needs 3 minutes to cook, but you need to put some 10-15 minutes to gather other ingredients and assemble the Dabeli. So fellas, make it and serve to your friends and family. 

Dabeli is also known as Kutchi or Kachchi Dabeli due to its origin in the Kutch region of Gujarat. These spicy, tangy, and tasty sliders are perfect party appetizers or snacks. In this dabeli recipe, soft, airy Bun/Pav is smeared with butter. Then each side is smeared with sweet and spicy chutney. Then the buns stuffed with delicious, tasty, and flavorsome potato filling. For the crunch, peanuts and sev are used. 

Here are some of my favorite Instant Pot Snacks Recipes:

Preparation Time: 15 Minutes; Cooking Time: 15 Minutes. 

To Prepare Dabeli(Potato) Stuffing in the Instant Pot:
  • Potatoes 3, peeled and cubed 
  • Dabeli Masala 2 Tbsp 
  • Oil 1 Tsp 
  • Salt 1 Tsp 
  • Kashmiri Red Chili Powder 1 tbsp 
  • Water 1 Cup
To Assemble the Kutchi Dabeli:
  • Onion ½ Cup, finely chopped 
  • Coriander leaves ¼ Cup 
  • Thin Sev 1 Cup
  • Pomegranate Arils ½ Cup 
  • Masala Peanuts ¼ Cup 
  • Green /Coriander Chutney ¼ Cup
  • Date-Tamarind Chutney ¼ Cup
  • Coconut ¼ Cup, fresh and grated
  • Dinner Rolls / Ladi Pav 12-15

To Make the Masala Peanuts:
  • Fried Peanuts ¼ Cup 
  • Red chili powder ½ Tsp 
  • Chaat masala ½ Tsp
  • Salt ¼ Tsp
  • Lemon juice 1 tbsp

To Prepare Dabeli(Potato) Stuffing in the Instant Pot:
  • Turn on the saute mode of the instant pot and heat oil. 
  • Add potatoes, dabeli masala, salt, and water ½ Cup and stir. 
  • Close the lid and place the vent on the sealing position. 
  • Pressure Cook on Manual Mode(Hi) for 3 minutes. 
  • NPR for 10 minutes and then release the remaining pressure manually. 
  • Open the lid and mash the potatoes using a masher. 
  • Add Kashmiri red chili powder and water ¼ cup and mix well. 
  • Transfer the mixture into the plate and level up it with the spatula. 
  • Now, add Coconut, coriander leaves, masala peanuts, and pomegranate and keep aside. 

To Make the Masala Peanuts:
  • Take peanuts(fried, skin removed, and break into two halves) in a bowl and add red chili powder, chat masala, salt, and lemon juice. 
  • Combine well and keep it aside. 

To Assemble the Dabeli: 
  • Slice the dinner of roll/Ladi pav. 
  • Then on the inner side of one slice spread green/coriander chutney and on the other side spread tamarind date chutney.
  • Top one side with onion, coriander leaves, peanuts, pomegranate, and sev. 
  • On the other side spread prepared potato stuffing and close it with top slice. 
  • Similarly, fill remaining buns/rolls and keep aside. 
  • Meanwhile, heat butter in a pan and sprinkle some red chili powder and coriander leaves. 
  • Toast all the stuffed buns and its ready serve. Enjoy!!!
