Each Serving of Fruit Custard Contains 222 Calories.

Ingredients:
  • Whole Milk 3 ¼ cups
  • Milk cream/whipping cream ¼ Cup
  • Sugar 4-5 Tbsp or adjust to taste
  • Custard powder 3 Tbsp (I have used Brown Polson Vanilla Custard Powder)
  • Fruits 2 Cups, deseeded and chopped
  • Dry nuts for garnishing(optional)

Instructions:
  • In a mixing bowl, add warm milk ¼ cup and custard powder and mix well.
  • There should be no lumps and keep it aside.
  • Add 3 cups of whole milk to a heavy bottom pan and bring it to boil.
  • Stir the milk in the pan in between, and let it heat up, and come to a gentle boil.
  • Then lower the heat and add sugar and mix until combined.
  • Start adding the custard mix and add a little at a time and mix after each addition(whisk continuously).
  • Cook for 2-3 minutes or until the custard thickens.
  • Remove pan from heat and let it cool down a bit(here you can also add rose water, vanilla extract, and cardamom powder (if using)).
  • Then cover the custard and place it in the refrigerator to chill.
  • Now, chop all fruits that you are using for the custard and refrigerate.
  • Once the custard and the fruits are chilled, transfer the custard to a serving bowl and mix in the fruits.
  • Cover and refrigerate the custard for 1 to 2 hours after mixing in the fruits for the flavors to develop.
  • Then garnish with fresh fruits and dry nuts and fruit custard is ready to serve. Enjoy!!!

My Take:
  • Once fruits and custard mixed, chill for a couple of hours for the flavors to develop.
  • Use any fruit that you like.
  • The custard can be made the day before you are planning to serve it.
  • If the custard is too thick, warm up some milk and add one tablespoon at a time, whisking continuously until it comes to desired consistency.
