How to Make Onion Paratha

Onion Paratha is a simple, yet tasty and healthy food recipe. Paratha is a flatbread that originated in the Indian subcontinent. Yes, its name itself suggests, onion paratha, I used spring and white onion stuffing to make onion paratha. It's easy to make.
Preparation Time: 15 Minutes; Cooking Time: 10 Minutes.
Total Time: 25 Minutes.
Ingredients :
- All-purpose flour 1 cup
- Curd / Yogurt 1/4 cup
- Salt 1 tsp
- Sugar ½ tbsp
- Butter 2 tbsp
- Water ¼ cup ( you can add milk too)
- Onion white ½ small, green onions finely chopped.
Instructions:
1)To Prepare the Dough:
In a flat bowl take all-purpose flour, add salt, sugar, melted butter, yogurt mix all these ingredients well and add water, then knead to make a smooth, soft dough. cover with a damp cloth and keep the dough aside for 15 to 20 minutes.
2)To make stuffing for paratha:
Mix finely chopped white and green onions in a bowl keep aside.
3) To make a Paratha:
- Make the same sized balls from the paratha dough.
- Take one ball, roll it into 6 to 7 inches diameter on a dusted rolling board.
- Apply ghee or oil on the rolled paratha.
- Sprinkle some flour, finely chopped onions on the top, from the edges start to fold & pleat the paratha till the end ( as shown in the video, along with that you will get 3 ways to make paratha ).
- Roll the pleated edges tightly. join the edges, lightly dust with flour and now roll into round parathas of about 6 to 7 inches in diameter.
- Now, turn on the flame, heat the tava, place the paratha on the tava (remember tava should be hot), turn the paratha when one side is partly cooked.
- Apply ghee on both sides. cook for a minute.
- Flip till the parathas are browned evenly and well cooked.
- Press the sides with the spatula while frying the parathas. Here, onion paratha is ready, serve it with any Indian curry, dal or pickle.
