How to Make Instant Kharvas​ / Milk Pudding
Hello Foodies,
Kharvas is a famous Maharashtrian recipe. Mainly kharvas is prepared using cow's or Buffalo's​ colostrum milk. But, nowadays it's rare to get cows colostrum milk, so here is a good, simple and easy option to prepare kharvas from scratch. It tasted great.


Preparation Time: 10 Minutes; Cooking Time: 35 Minutes ;

Total Time: 45 Minutes


Ingredients :



  1. Whole milk 1 cup
  2. Condensed milk 1 cup
  3. Hung curd or Greek yogurt 1 cup
  4. Cardamom powder 1 tsp
  5. Saffron few strands
  6. Corn flour 1 tbsp


Recipe :

  1. In a mixing bowl add whole milk, condensed milk, hung curd, cornflour, and ½ tsp cardamom powder, whisk all very well. There should not be any lump.
  2. Transfer it to a vessel to steam ( you can use a pressure cooker without whistle ), sprinkle remaining cardamom powder and saffron, it will give a nice taste to kharvas, steam it for 35 minutes on medium heat.
  3. After 35 minutes check it by inserting a knife or fork, if it came out clear, it means your kharvas is ready. Serve it hot or you can refrigerate it for 2 to 3 hours so that it sets properly. Serve chilled. Enjoy!!!


Tip :
               If you wanna make it for fasting or for vrat, replace corn flour by milk powder.
