Found some tasty, spicy party appetizer solution. Veggie stuffed buns are super easy, mouth-watering and simple. The great part of these homemade stuffed buns is you can use your imagination to make them with any stuffing you’d like! Stuffed veggie buns are the perfect size for appetizers and party platters. Try them with any of your choice toppings. Or serve them warm in a basket for dinner parties. Whatever the occasion, your guests will be happy and honored that you are serving them such delicious, buttery goodness.
Preparation Time: 30 Minutes; Baking Time: 15 Minutes
Proof Time: 2 Hours; Total Time: 2 Hours, 45 Minutes.
Ingredients :
1) For Buns -
- Maida / all-purpose flour 1 cup
- Yeast 1 tbsp
- water ¼ cup
- Sugar 2 tsp
- Salt 1 tsp
- Butter 2 tbsp
2) For stuffing veggies -
- Potato 2 small, boiled and mashed
- Green peas ½ cup
- Yellow pepper ½, chopped
- Tomato 1 small, chopped
- Onion 1 small, chopped
- Ghee / Butter 2 tbsp
- Cumin seeds 1 tsp
- Red chili powder 1 tbsp
- Turmeric powder 1 tsp
- Coriander powder 1 tsp
- Cumin powder 1 tsp
- Salt 1 tsp
- Pav Bhaji Masala 1 tbsp
- Coriander Leaves ¼ cup, chopped
- Asafoetida 1 pinch
- Ginger 11 g
- Garlic 3 cloves
- Lemon juice 1 tbsp
- Mozzarella cheese 9 tsp
Recipe :
1) For Buns -
- Take a bowl and sieve all-purpose flour, then add sugar 1 tsp, salt and mix it well, keep aside.
- Take a ¼ cup of milk or you can use water too. Make it a little bit warm. Add yeast 1 tbsp, 1 tsp sugar and mix it well. Keep aside for 10 minutes to rise yeast.
- After 10 minutes take a bowl of mixed all-purpose flour, salt, sugar and add butter 2 tbsp, add yeast mixture into a bowl, knead to make a soft dough for about 4 to 5 minutes. If needed add minimal milk or water to make dough soft.
- Now, knead for more 10 to 12 minutes. Or knead till dough get soft.
- Once the dough is soft and ready then keep the dough into the butter coated bowl. Wrap the bowl with plastic wrapper. Keep it aside for 2 hours for proof.
- After 2 hours remove the plastic wrapper and knock on the dough and make it air free. Remove dough from the bowl and knead for 3 to 4 minutes. Then divide the dough into 9 equal parts. Knead and make round shaped balls of each part of the dough.
2) For veggie stuffing -
- Boil or pressure cook potatoes and peas until cooked fully. Mashup well when the pressure comes down.
- In a pan add butter and heat up. Add cumin seeds, asafoetida and onions and saute till they turn translucent.
- Now, add chopped yellow pepper, chopped tomato, boiled green peas, a little bit of coriander leaves ginger garlic paste and mashed potatoes. Saute well and cover it with lead and cook for 3 to 4 minutes or till it gets fragrant. After 4 minutes remove lead and saute till all veggies turn soft and mushy.
- It's time to add chili powder, turmeric powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, salt, and pav bhaji masala powder. Mix well and fry for another 3 to 4 minutes or until the raw smell of the mixture goes away.
- Pour water just enough to bring to consistency. Cook for 3 to 5 mins until the bhaji thickens. Garnish with coriander leaves.
- Here is super tasty, mouth-watering curry/bhaji ready to serve. Serve Bhaji with pav or buns, chopped onions, lemon juice, butter and serve it hot or warm. ( I used ½ veggie stuffing to stuff bun)
3) To make a Stuffed Veggie Buns -
- Now, take a baking tray, place aluminum foil and grease with butter. Take all the 9 balls of dough. Make it flatten a little bit and make stuffing of veggie ( I Stuffed 1 tbsp).
- Stuff all the 9 buns with veggies, 1 tsp cheese and close it.
- Place all the stuffed buns balls into the baking tray. Cover with a damp cloth to rise up for about 30 minutes.
- After 30 minutes remove the cloth, coat dough balls with butter or milk wash.
- Preheat oven at 400 Fahrenheit. It's ready to bake. Bake buns for 15 minutes at 400 Fahrenheit.
- After 15 minutes remove the baking tray from oven and coat buns with butter or milk. Let it cool by wrapping up with a damp cloth.
- Finally, here is tasty, spicy and yummy stuffed Veggie Buns / Pav Bhaji Buns are ready to eat. Enjoy!
