Valentine's Day Special: Toffee Squares / Chocolate Toffee Bars

How to Make Terrific Eggless Shortbread Toffee Bars
Hello Foodies,
This Valentine's day treat your loved ones with this delicious chocolate toffee squares. These are decadent bites of chocolate that melt in your mouth! I first time tried it when my friend baked it for our festival party. It was so good!

If you haven't had one, you really should try them. Instead of just adding more chocolate, I made a whole extra batch with a thicker layer of chocolate and topped with some nuts, sugar sprinkles, and m and n. I used Wilton candy melt for the top chocolate layer. The chocolate melts so smoothly and tastes terrific. It's the most fabulous combo ever! If you don't want your chocolate to crack when cutting your bars, don't refrigerate these bars. And cut the squares as soon as the chocolate sets.

These toffee squares are much less work. The pastry layer only takes about 15-20 minutes to make. Melt together some chocolate chips with little butter, put it on top of the baked pastry layer, and you have to wait for it to set up before eating. They're a lovely addition to any holiday cookie tray.

How to Make Toffee Squares?
Toffee Squares/Bars are easy to make, and they can keep a couple of weeks in an airtight container. Make a shortbread base using butter, brown sugar, vanilla, and flour. But brown sugar gives the shortbread a toffee-like flavor. The shortbread baked until golden brown. After removing from the oven, melted chocolate is spread over the hot pastry and then let it set. Now, the topping. It is up to you. I added roasted cashews, sugar sprinkles, and M&M's to mine because we wanted lots of toffee crunch and flavor. But lots of people like pecans on their toffee, so you could sprinkle on pecans. You could do both! Or you could do festive sprinkles. Whatever you like, go for it.
