How to Make Easy and Delicious No Onion - No Garlic Vegan Cabbage Rice

Hello Foodies, 
        In this simple, instant pot pulao recipe, grated cabbage is transformed into a fragrant, delicious one-pot no onion, no garlic meal. This Healthy Instant Pot Cabbage Fried Rice is the easiest way to get cook during the workweek. Dump your ingredients in the instant pot and enjoy healthy, tasty lunch or dinner, it's ready in under 30 minutes.


This pulao is such a unique way to enjoy a superfood, cabbage, and another excellent meal prep option. You'll have workweek lunches ready in a flash! And such a great way to enjoy a big bowl of comfort food after a long day. It's probably even faster than ordering in, and much healthier too! I make a batch of this Instant Pot cabbage rice once a week. If you do follow my recipes, then you know that I use turmeric in almost all my food prep or every recipe. It's my family's thing(My MIL and My Mom both use turmeric in their food preparations, so I started to follow them). And also use of turmeric make food more healthy as turmeric has antiseptic properties, healing properties.

What Is Cabbage Rice/कोबी पुलाव?
       Cabbage Rice is the main dish recipe featuring grated cabbage, green peas, and basmati rice cooked along with tempering of cumin-mustard seeds, curry leaves, ginger-green chilies, peanuts, and my favorite aromatic Goda Masala. These aromatic seasonings make this pulao an irresistible recipe! 

Few tips for cooking perfect Cabbage Rice in the IP:
  • Rinse the Basmati Rice for at least 6-7 times or until water does run clear. Rinsing helps get rid of starch, and starch can make your rice sticky.
  • Use the best quality Basmati Rice that you can find. I use Tilda or Royal Basmati Rice.
  • Soak rice in water for 10-15 minutes, at least.
  • NPR is must follow steps that will help to get perfectly cooked rice.
Preparation Time: 5 Minutes; Cooking Time: 20 Minutes.
Each Serving of Cabbage Rice Contains 203 Calories.

Ingredients:
  • Cabbage 2 Cups, grated
  • Green Peas ½ Cup
  • Basmati Rice 1 Cup(soaked in water for 10-15 minutes) 
  • Goda Masala ½ Tbsp 
  • Peanuts 2 Tbsp
  • Green chili and ginger paste 1 Tsp
  • Turmeric ½ Tsp
  • Curry leaves 10-12 
  • Cumin-Mustard Seeds 1 Tsp 
  • Salt 1 Tsp 
  • Coriander leaves for garnishing 
  • Oil 2 Tsp
  • Water 2 Cups

Instructions:
To Prepare Instant Pot Cabbage Rice:
  • Turn on the sauté mode of the instant pot and heat oil.
  • Add cumin-mustard seeds, and curry leaves, and let it splutter. 
  • Now, add peanuts and roast for a minute.
  • Add green chilies - garlic paste and mix well.
  • Now, add green peas, grated cabbage, turmeric, goda masala, salt, and basmati rice, and mix well.
  • Add water 2 cups and mix all well.
  • Close the lid and place the vent on the sealing position.
  • Cook on manual mode(Hi) for 6 minutes.
  • NPR and open the lid and add chopped coriander leaves and give it a quick stir.
  • Healthy and flavorsome Cabbage Rice / Kobi Pulao ready to serve. Enjoy!!! 

My Take:
  • If you like, you can add garlic and onions too.
  • You can add other veggies to make it more delicious and nutritious.
  • You can add ghee instead of oil.
  • Soak rice in water for at least 10-15minutes.

  • The calorie count is based on a 2000 calorie diet.
  • Per serving contains 203 calories, along with 36.2 g carbohydrates, 3.18 g dietary fiber, 4.47 g fats, and 4.87 g protein.
  • Portion size can always be increased or decreased depending on your health goals and activity level.
