Hello Foodies,
This Rava Mawa Modak is one of those simple, but very satisfying desserts. Also, it's Lord Ganesha's favorite sweet that hits the sweet spot every time during this festive season (Ganpati festival). If you have tried my Instant Pot Semolina Ladoo recipe, then you will find this Modaks recipe is as easy as ladoos. You need a few ingredients, half an hour of your time and modak mold.
One of my friends invited us to Ganesh Chaturthi Puja this year. And to offer Naivedyam to Lord Ganesha, I have made these soft and delicious modaks this Ganesh Chaturthi, and everyone loved them.

I love, love, love Ukadiche Modaks, but these Rava-Mawa Modak also my favorites now and are tasty and yummy. So try something different, easy, and instant modak than regular modaks. The saffron's flavor and aroma are amazing and delicious too. I also have prepared malai modaks and which tastes yummy too.

- Grease the modak mold with ghee and stuff the prepared mixture and close the mold.
- Remove excess mixture and open the mold gently.
- Place the prepared mold onto the plate and garnish with saffron strands, similarly make remaining modaks.
- Soft, and moist Ganpati Bappa's favorite modaks are ready to serve. Enjoy!!!
Why is Modaks not holding shape and breaking?
- It means the mixture is dry, so add more ghee, ghee is a binding ingredient in this recipe.
Why is Modaks becoming flat and not holding the shape?
- It means ghee has become slightly more, so for that, you need to add dry roasted semolina 2-3 Tbsp.
- Or keep the mixture into the refrigerator for about 15-20 minutes, and then ghee will solidify a bit and then it will be easy to give it a shape.
How to store Modaks and its shelf life?
- Refrigerate the Modaks in an airtight container.
- If kept at room temperature it will be edible for two days.
- If refrigerated they will be edible for 6-7 days.
My Take:
- You can add desiccated coconut or fresh coconut too.
- This Modaks recipe can be doubled or tripled.
- You can add less or more sugar as per your taste.
- You can skip adding the saffron milk and add 1 Tbsp of ghee.
- Allow the mixture to cool down before trying to make modaks fully.
