Til ki burfi is a traditional sweet of North India, prepared during winter or on the occasion of
Makar Sankranti. It is a very nutritious and healthy sweet because of the wonderful combination of sesame seeds and jaggery, which are a very good sources of iron and have heating properties.
             Preparing this barfi is very simple and easy requiring very less time and ingredients. So, follow this simple and Instant recipe of tilgul chikki. It's naturally gluten-free and to make vegan just don't add ghee, and you will get your vegan version of this chikki. Best thing about this chikki or burfi is that it will be edible for almost one month, just store this barfi in airtight container and it can be edible for more than a month.

Preparation Time : 10 Minutes ; Cooking Time : 10 Minutes.
Each Serving of Tilgul Barfi / Chikki Contains 60 Cal.

Ingredients :

  1. Sesame seeds / Til (white) 2 cup
  2. Jaggery 1 ½ cup
  3. Peanuts ¼ cup, dry roasted
  4. Cardamom powder 1 tsp
  5. Ghee / Butter 2 tbsp
  6. Water 2 tbsp
  7. Dry fruits for garnishing

Recipe :
  1. Turn on flame, place a kadai and dry roast sesame seeds on medium to low flame, continue stirring until the sesame seeds get puffy and little brown in color.
  2. It just takes 2 to 3 minutes for roasting the sesame seeds, then transfer the roasted sesame seeds in a separate plate.
  3. In a kadai / pan add ghee and let it melt, now add jaggery and milk or water to the melted ghee and simmer until it melts completely.
  4. Meanwhile, grind the sesame seeds and peanuts, ground them little coarsely.
  5. To the jaggery syrup, add cardamom powder, blended sesame seeds and peanuts and stir to mix up really well and cook until everything blends into each other and gets dense in consistency.
  6. Grease a tray or plate for setting the barfi. To set the barfi, transfer the mixture into the greased tray. Sprinkle the thinly sliced dry fruits
    over the mixture to garnish.
  7. Press them gently with a spatula, let the burfi cool down for 15 minutes.
  8. After 15 minutes cut the burfi into desired shape and size.
  9. Now let the burfi cool down completely and after this separate it from the plate.
  10. Tadaa, delicious til-gur barfi is ready to serve. Enjoy!!!

My Take :
  • Ghee enhances the taste of tilgul chikki, but you can
    make it without ghee as per your taste.
  • Make sure you don’t over roast the seeds. The sesame seeds turn bitter in taste if over roasted.
  • The size and shape of chikki can be small or big as you like .
  • Store this barfi in airtight container and it can be edible for more than a month.
  • To separate out the chunks from the plate, reheat the plate slightly over the flame.
