How to Make Starbucks Style Chai Tea Latte

           Starbucks style chai tea latte made from scratch using a blend of tea and whole spices in the Instant Pot. Want to feel cozy? Then let's make this warm, creamy, and Spiced Starbucks style Chai Tea Latte at home.

Serve Chai tea latte with a dollop of whipped cream on top and sprinkle some cinnamon and cozy up on the couch with a warm blanket and enjoy your movie. Oh my, and it tastes heavenly trust me!

This Chai latte is a healthy drink for every season. You can have it as evening tea or whenever you want. The goodness of ginger and cinnamon help to boost your metabolism, so it is a healthy substitute for coffee as some people are not fond of having coffee.

What is Chai Tea Latte?

Basically, a Chai tea latte is just like Indian Masala Tea/Chai. It is a hot drink made with black tea, some whole spices, and frothed milk. It can be made hot or iced. 

Ingredients Used to Make Chai Tea Latte:

Tea Sachets: I have used Black tea sachets, but you can use loose tea powder too. You can use any you like and any available.

Milk: I have used whole milk and heavy cream. You can use any kind of milk you like(you can use full-fat milk/2% milk/half and a half)

Sweetener: Any kind of sugar: You can use refined white sugar, brown sugar, honey, or date syrup.

Ingredients:

  • 2 Cups Water
  • 10-12 Black Peppercorns
  • 5 Cardamom
  • 5-6 Cloves
  • 1 Stick Cinnamon
  • 1 inch Ginger, sliced
  • 2 Tbsp Brown Sugar
  • 2 Black Tea Bags
  • 2 cups Whole Milk
  • ¼ Cup Heavy Cream

Instructions:

To Prepare Masala for Chai Tea Latte:

  • In a mortar, Take 10-12 pieces of whole pepper, 5 pieces of cardamom, 5 pieces of cloves, and crush them coarsely with a pestle.
  • Take one stick of cinnamon and crush it.
  • Take 1 inch of ginger and coarsely crush it.

To Prepare Chai Tea Latte in the Instant Pot:

  • Turn on the saute mode of the Instant Pot and pour 2 cups of water and bring it to boil.
  • Add coarsely crushed spices, ginger, brown sugar/honey, and black tea bags.
  • Turn off the saute mode and close the lid of the Instant Pot.
  • Pressure Cook on Manual Mode(Hi) for 5 minutes.
  • Quick-release of the pressure and open the lid.
  • Strain the tea into a mug and keep it aside.
  • Now, turn on the saute mode of the instant pot and pour milk and heavy cream, and bring it to boil.
  • Once it starts to boil, turn off the saute mode.
  • Froth the milk using a hand blender.
  • Add sugar to the 2 mugs 1 Tsp to each mug.
  • Pour strained tea into the mugs.
  • Pour the hot frothy milk in tea and sprinkle a pinch of cinnamon powder.
  • Delicious Chai Tea Latte is ready to drink. Enjoy!!!

Stovetop Method:

  • Boil 2 cups of water in a cooking pan on medium heat.
  • Add all crushed spices to the boiling water and let them boil for 9-10 minutes on medium heat.
  • Add brown sugar to spice water.
  • Take two bags of Black tea and boil in spice water for 2 to 3 minutes until the tea fully brews.
  • Strain the tea into two cups/mugs.
  • In another pan boil 2 Cups of whole milk. Once it starts to boil, turn off the heat.
  • Froth the milk using a hand blender.
  • Pour the hot frothy milk in tea and sprinkle a pinch of cinnamon powder.
  • Enjoy the delicious Chai Tea Latte!

Tips:

  • Any kind of tea can be used to make a tea latte.
  • Crushed Spices can enhance the flavor, but you can also use whole spices.
  • Full cream milk is also good for the Chai latte.

Dietary Comment:

  • The calorie count is based on a 2000 calorie diet.
  • Per serving contains 160 calories, along with 18 g carbohydrates, 1g dietary fiber, 0.3 g fats, and 9g protein.
