Unboxing, Review & Water Test: Instant Pot Ultra 6 Qt 10-in-1 Multi- Use Programmable Pressure Cooker

Hello Friends,
In this post, I am reviewing the Instant Pot Ultra 6-Quart 10 in 1, one of the newest electric pressure cooker models. In my family, my grandma, my mother, and me, we are using Indian Pressure Cooker, so I don't say we are a newbie to this kitchen appliance. We have been using 'Prestige Pressure Cookers' in India, and those are one of the fastest and easier ways to cook any hot food. Although, there is a lot of difference between Indian Pressure Cooker and this modernized version, electric pressure cooker.
The most significant advantage of the Instant Pot is that you don’t have to watch it as you would a traditional Indian pressure cooker. You need to select your cooking time or food type, and the timer will let you know when it is done. With a traditional pressure cooker, you are limited to either low pressure or high pressure, so your adjustments are primarily done via your stovetop flame. If thinking about both of these appliances, I am intrigued by the new version of the electric pressure cooker. It’s safe, easy to use, quiet, and can be left alone unattended.
All the features from previous Instant Pot versions are included with this Ultra model. In addition, there is a new bigger digital display screen.

What comes with the Instant Pot Ultra?
  • Steamer Rack
  • Soup scoop
  • Rice measuring cup
  • Condensation collector
  • Rice paddle
  • Quick Reference Guide
  • Recipe Book
  • Newly designed manual

The Instant Pot Ultra Functions:
1)Automatic Sealing Function:
In the previous Instant Pot models, you need to turn the vent on sealing position to seal it, and to release the pressure you need to turn sealing position to venting.
Now, in Ulta steam release valve will deal automatically (so don't worry if you forget about sealing). The steam release control is one advanced feature without a doubt. To release pressure, you just need to press down the Quick Release button until you hear the click and the cooker will lock into the venting position.

2) Digital Display and New Dial Button:
It has a new digital display(large LCD), and three buttons,

  • Start Button
  • Cancel button
  • A new dial button(pushable dial) that replaces all of the buttons.
The display also shows a graph that indicates what stage the pressure cooker is in.
To Use New Dial Button:
  • Instead of pressing a pushable pressure cook/ manual button, we now have to scroll through the program list with the dial button to select the pressure cook program.
  • If you want to switch from the pressure cooking program to the cake/bake program, we will have to press the cancel button, then scroll through the program list until we reach the cake/bake program with the dial button. Isn't it sound easy?
3) Condensation Collector:
Slide the condensation collector into the back of the Instant Pot Ultra. It will collect the condensation that drips down from the lid if you prop the lid open.

Instant Pot Ultra 6 QT 10 in 1 Feature:

  • Pressure cooker, Soup/Broth, Meat/Stew, Bean Chill, Steam, Slow Cook, Saute, Warmer, Rice, Porridge, Multigrain, Cake(Bake), Egg, Sterilizer, Yogurt and Ultra(which allows for sous vide cooking).

Instant Pot Ultra Water Test:

  • Pour 1 cup of water into the insert of the instant pot and close the lid.
  • Press the dial to select the ‘Pressure Cook’ option.
  • The cooking time (in my case it’s 00:35 i.e.35 minutes; your display may have a different time) will have a box around it that’s blinking.
  • Press the dial to select the cooking time and turn the dial until the time changes to 00:02 (2 minutes).
  • Press the dial to confirm the time and press 'Start' to begin the pressure cooking.
  • The Instant Pot Valve will go from the down position to the up position once the Instant Pot has sealed.
  • Once done, give a Quick Release of pressure (QRP) by pressing down the quick-release button.
  • Press 'Cancel' button and open the lid and here initial water test is done.

Also, I would like to mention; if you are looking for Instant Pot Ultra recipes, then you don’t need any special Ultra recipes or cookbooks, all the Instant Pot recipes can be easily made in the Ultra. Once you have done your initial water test, you are ready to prepare your first dish in instant pot. Here is the Banana Cake/Bread (Egg-free + Banana + Whole Wheat Flour + Finger Millets Flour Cake)recipe that I have made first in this new and modernized version of Instant pot using bake function. You can also try this simple Biryanis/Rice Recipes or some quick Indian Curry recipes in instant pot. Gajar ka halwa is my favorite dessert recipe, and since I have bought instant pot, I have been making carrots halwa in instant pot. The instant pot takes just 10 minutes to cook carrots halwa.
This Instant Pot model is versatile, and this model would also be a great but for those that are getting their first electric pressure cooker. This Instant Pot Ultra 10 in 1 getting a lot of love and positive reviews, because of its flexibility and versatility. It is one of the most customized electric pressure cookers.
