Easy to Make Peas Pulao in Instant Pot / Matar Pulao in Instant Pot

This is simple, easy to make and one of the healthy recipe made with rice and fresh green peas.
Green Peas are known to be the world's healthiest food. Pulao is an Indian rice recipe made by using some spices, vegetables or meats. It is usually served with raita or pickle and any veg or non-veg gravy or curry. It is very mild and fragrant, and great for those picky kids who don't like to eat peas. Pulao is one of the most favorite and also one of the simplest one pot meal. This pulao can be done in a few minutes and also tastes delicious. Usually, basmati rice is used to prepare a pulao, but any rice can also be used. You can serve this rice with raita, or with any veg or non-veg curry. I have prepared this peas pulao, egg curry, methichi bhaji(fenugreek leaves stir fry) and bajra bhakri for lunch during the last weekend.

Preparation Time: 10 Minutes; Cooking Time: 6 Minutes.
Total Time: 16 Minutes.

Ingredients :

  1. Green peas 1 cup
  2. Rice 1 ½ cup
  3. Cumin seeds 1 tsp
  4. Bay leaf
  5. Cardamom 2 pods
  6. Cloves 3
  7. Cinnamon ½ inch
  8. Coriander Leaves ¼ cup
  9. Salt 1 Tsp
  10. Cashew nuts 12 to 14
  11. Veg.oil / olive oil 2 Tsp
  12. Water 2 cups

Instructions :

  1. Wash rice under tap water and keep aside.
  2. Turn on instant pot and press sauté function, heat veg. oil and splutter cumin seeds, bay leaf, cinnamon, cardamom pods, cloves, and green chilies.
  3. Now add cashews and green peas and mix well.
  4. Add rice, salt and mix all and add 2 cups of water.
  5. Close the lid, place the vent on sealing position, and cook on manual mode(Hi) for 6 minutes.
  6. Naturally release the pressure for 10 minutes, then move the valve to release any remaining pressure.
  7. Open the lid, add chopped coriander leaves and mix the rice.
  8. Here, a healthy bowl filled with nutrients is ready to serve, serve with raita, curd or with any curry. Enjoy!!!
