How to prepare Sabudana Thalipeeth / उपवासाचे थालीपीठ )

Sabudana thalipeeth is a breakfast or evening snack recipe and ideal for who are fasting. You can make sabudana vadas or sabudana thalipeeth from the same mixture. I want to avoid deep frying sabudana vadas, so I prepared this Thalipeeth.

Ingredients :
- Sabudana ½ cup (soaked in water for 3-4 hours)
- Potato 2, boiled and mashed
- Arrowroot / Milk powder / rajgira flour 2 tbsp
- Green chilies 5 strips, paste
- Salt 1 tsp
- Cumin seeds 1 tbsp
- Olive oil 2 tbsp
- Coriander leaves ¼ cup
- Peanut, dry roasted and coarse paste 2 tbsp
- Red chili powder 1 tbsp

Instructions:
- In a bowl mix all ingredients sabudana, potato, Arrowroot/rajgira salt green chilies paste, salt, cumin seeds, peanuts paste and add water to make soft dough.
- Grease tawa with oil and heat it, now transfer the prepared thalipeeth gently to the tawa, and drizzle oil around the thalipeeth.
- Cook on medium heat until it start browning. Flip it over to the other side and cook both sides well until golden brown.

- Based on a 2000 calorie diet.
- It makes 8 servings.
- Per serving contains 125 calories, along with carbohydrates - 17.46 g, dietary fibers - 2.49 g, fats - 5.22 g, proteins - 3.5 g.

- Sago or sabudana is a food which is full of energy and carbohydrates.
- Minerals like calcium, iron and some others are contained by sago which helps in the improvement of joints and bones.
- Potatoes like sabudana are also rich in carbohydrates which makes them an excellent source of energy which comes handy when you are fasting.
- Potatoes have many health benefits and along with being rich in micronutrients.
- Peanuts, apart from being rich in carbohydrates peanuts also contain proteins which your body needs during fasting.
- Peanuts contain B complex, vitamins like niacin, riboflavin, thiamin, vitamin B6, vitamin B9, pantothenic acid etc. Also contains Vit.E which is good to keep skin healthy.
- Arrowroot helps to digestion and regulates the bowel movement. Its high starch content acts as a mild laxative for those suffering from irritable bowel syndrome.
- Cumin seeds helps in digestion and also prevents constipation. Many times, fasting causes bloating and cumin can prevent that too.
- Chilies helps in digestion and also contain small amounts of vitamin C.
