How to prepare Non-sticky Bhindi Fry / Okra fry

Hello Everyone,
Bhindi fry is a delicious, nutritious, simple, everyday vegetable recipe and cooked in onion, tomato, and spices, which makes a mouth-watering bhindi fry. It has a dry and crispy texture, and it accompanies by chapati, bhakri, or rice for lunch or dinner. It happens with some folks that bhindi tends to get sticky while cooking, so today I am sharing with you all some simple tips and tricks to make a Non-sticky Bhindi Fry recipe

Preparation Time: 10 Minutes; Cooking Time: 20 Minutes.

Ingredients:

  • Bhindi/okra 2 cups, sliced
  • Veg. Oil 1 tbsp
  • Cumin seeds 1 tsp
  • Mustard seeds 1 tsp
  • Turmeric powder 1 tsp
  • Onion 1 chopped
  • Tomato 1 chopped
  • Coriander leaves ¼ cup
  • Red chili powder 1 tbsp
  • Salt 1 tsp
  • Green chili 3 strips, chopped

Instructions:
  1. Wash and pat dry, make sure to completely dry the bhindi
    as wet bhindi will be sticky when cutting.
  2. Cut off both ends of the bhindi, and slice lengthwise in halves(don't make things slices)
  3. In a pan add ½ a tbsp veg. oil and add sliced bhindi and turmeric powder 1 tsp. Saute well and keep stirring and cooking for 5 to 6 minutes or till bhindi cook well.
  4. Meanwhile, heat the oil in a frying pan, once the oil gets hot, add the cumin and mustard seeds, and curry leaves. When the cumin seeds crack, add chopped onions. Cook till onion gets slight brown color and add chopped tomatoes.
  5. Now add red chili powder, salt and saute well.
  6. It's time to add shallow fried bhindi slices, saute to mix all well, and cook for another 3 to 4 minutes.
  7. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves. Here, non-sticky, healthy, and tasty bhindi fry or okra fry is ready to serve. Enjoy!!!
Tips To Make Non-sticky Bhindi Fry :
  • Wash them under tap water and wipe them neatly one by one, dry clean cloth or by a kitchen towel before chopping.
  • Chop to make medium-sized pieces, not very thin pieces.
  • Before tossing into onion and spices shallow fry them in a non-stick pan and add 1 tsp turmeric powder and cook for 5 to 10 minutes or till bhindi cook well.
  • Don’t cover the pan with the lid while cooking the Lady’s finger.
  • Shallow fry it in a medium to low flame.
  • If you want to make it crispy, then sprinkle a spoonful of besan flour, cornflour, or rice flour to it.
