Stuffed Aloo Bun

  Hello everyone, now replace deep fried potato vadas by stuffed aloo buns,  no need to add extra calories, here is trick to fulfill your desires by baking stuffed aloo Bun ( Vada Pav ). Yep! Vada av is a very famous, tasty and all time favorite Indian food recipe. Try it by baking vada inside the buns. Enjoy treat without worrying about deep fried oils fat. 😊👍


Preparation Time : 15 Minutes ; Cooking Time : 15 Minutes
Proof Time : 2 Hours ; Total Time : 2 Hours, 30 Minutes.

Ingredients :
1) For Buns -                                       
  • Maida / all purpose flour 1 cup 
  • Yeast 2 tbsp
  • Milk ¼  cup
  • Honey 1 tbsp
  • Salt 1 tsp
  • Butter 2 tbsp
2) For Aloo curry -
  • Potato
  • Green chilli 10 strips
  • Garlic 6 cloves
  • Onion 1 small
  • Coriander ¼ cup
  • Oil 2 tbsp
  • Turmeric 1 tsp
  • Salt 1 tsp
  • Cumin seeds 1 tsp
  • Mustard seeds 1 tsp
  • Asafoetida 1 pinch


Recipe :
1) For Buns -
  1. Take a bowl and sieve all purpose flour then add 1 tsp salt and mix it well, keep aside.
  2. Take a ¼ cup of milk or you can use water too. Make it little bit warm. Add yeast 2 tbsp, 1 tbsp of honey and mix it well. Keep aside for 10 minutes to rise yeast.
  3. After 10 minutes take a bowl of mixed all purpose flour, salt and butter 2 tbsp, add yeast mixture into bowl, knead to make a soft dough for about 4 to 5 minutes. If needed add minimal milk or water to make dough soft.
  4. Now, knead for more 10 to 12 minutes. Knead till dough get soft.
  5. Once dough is soft and ready then keep dough into butter coated bowl. Wrap the bowl with plastic wrapper. Keep it aside for 1 hour for rise.
  6. After 1 hour remove plastic wrapper and knock on dough and make it air free. Remove dough from the bowl and knead for 3 to 4 minutes. Then divide dough into 6 equal parts. Knead and make round shaped balls of each part of dough.
2) For Aloo curry -
  1. Place a pan on medium heat, add 2 tbsp veg., then add mustard seeds and cumin seeds, let the mustard seeds and cumin seeds start popping & crackling.
  2. Add chopped onion, stir it well and add green chilies, garlic paste  and asafoetida. Saute till the onions, green chillies and garlic darken a bit and add turmeric powder and salt stir it well.
  3. Now, add chopped, boiled potatoes, saute and mix it well for 2 to 3 minutes.
  4. Garnish with coriander leaves and let it cool down.
3) To make a Stuffed Aloo Buns -
  1. Now, take a baking tray, place aluminum foil and grease with butter. Take all the 6 balls of dough. Make it flatten little bit and make stuffing ​of aloo curry divide it into 6 small balls.
  2. Stuff all the 6 buns with aloo curry balls and close it.
  3. Place all the 6 balls of dough into baking tray. Cover with damp cloth to risen up for about 1 hour.
  4. After 1 hour remove cloth, coat dough balls with butter.
  5. Preheat oven at 400 Fahrenheit. It's ready to bake. Bake buns for 15 minutes at 400 Fahrenheit.
  6. After 15 minutes remove baking tray from oven and coat buns with butter or milk. Let it cool by wrapping up with damp cloth.
  7. Finally, here is tasty, spicy and yummy stuffed Aloo Buns are ready to eat, serve it with fried green chilli or with tomato ketchup.  Enjoy!
